Jayne Cowell
Jayne is a registered Psychologist with over 15 years experience working in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She has worked in not-for-profit organisations, private clinics and has extensive experience working within schools in Australia. Jayne has also worked to support in-patients and out-patients at a major hospital in London. Jayne is also a registered supervisor and enjoys supporting trainee Psychologists in beginning their career.
Jayne is passionate about mental health, well-being and supporting individuals to reach a place of peace and empowerment. She understands the courage it takes to ask for help and wants all her clients to feel understood and supported.
Jayne believes in the importance of fostering a strong relationship with clients that is based on mutual trust and understanding. She believes that each individual needs a therapeutic approach that is tailored to their specific psychological needs. Jayne believes in a strength-based approach to therapy. When supporting children and teenagers, and their families, Jayne ensures she regularly communicates with other supportive people in the young person’s life, including: parents, teachers and schools. Jayne is also specialised in supporting people through trauma, be it individual experiences of trauma or complex trauma. Jayne has also recently taken a special interest in peri-natal and postpartum psychological support.
Therapies
Most of Jayne’s therapeutic work is grounded in positive psychology theory. Jayne also utilises strategies from Cognitive-behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). Jayne also has a special interest in the impacts of both single and complex trauma and has done extensive training in trauma informed care/therapy.
Education & Support
Jayne is passionate about taking a proactive approach to mental health and wants to promote this by providing educational opportunities to individuals, parents, and families.
