Alex Smith

Alex is a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist with over 10 years experience working in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She has extensive experience working within special schools as well as in the community, schools, and private clinics. She is passionate about advocating for those without a voice and empowering people to become successful communicators.

Therapies and Approach

Alex has had the privilege of working with, and learning from, a range of young people across her career. She adapts her approach to suit each client and supports them to use their strengths to achieve their goals. Alex believes it is vital that the team around the young person (parents/carers, school staff, support staff, etc.) are knowledgeable and feel confident to maintain this success.

Alex is specialised in working with AAC (augmentative and alternative communication) users, as well as those who would like support with speech, language, social communication, and literacy (particularly emergent readers and writers). She also has significant experience with community support for those with dysphagia (swallowing difficulties).

Alex is also available to provide workshops, training, resources and information sessions for families, education staff, support workers, and other professionals to upskill them on an individual’s needs or more general communication or dysphagia support.

Alex is currently available to see clients on Wednesdays.
